Uftyuga painting

Verkhnaya Uftyuga is a village, named after the tributary stream of Northern Dvina river.

Uftyuga painting was famous for birch bark, painted with fabulous ornaments on bright orange-red, green and even blue backgrounds. A characteristic feature of the Uftyuzh painting is that a large part of the surface of the product remains free from ornament and preserves the beauty of the material.

The composition of the painting is always the same - it is a flexible twig with a light flower, sprawling leaves, berries, and “little birdies” in various poses: grandly walking, pecking, hunting feathers, preparing to soar...
